Quote of the Day:
“It is amazing how this scaremongering from climate change lobbyists keeps arising even though they are constantly being proved wrong.”
“Last year there was snow in Saudi Arabia and still they persist in saying the temperature is going up.”
Christopher Booker, author of “The Real Global Warming Disaster
Quote of the Day, Part II:
“In addition to the global warming challenges, we need to address ‘global cooling’ effects and to do so promptly,” he said.
Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister of Russia as reported by Itar Tass News agency
Is he cracking a joke here?
Observations:
I can hardly believe the disingenuousness of the Wall Street bankers during their congressional hearings. “It seemed like the appropriate thing to do at the time.” Of course it did if you are a criminal!
Of particular loathsomeness is Lloyd Blankfein of Goldman Sachs (favorite mentor of the Tinkerbelle of the Treasury) who made $50 Million the previous year and was selling mortgaged securities to investors out the front door and betting they would go bad with credit default swaps through the back door.
I have long considered Wall Street an extremely well run criminal enterprise, but it now appears that it isn’t that well run. The bankers had little to say during the hearing except to admit their actions were criminal (my word-their word was improper).
These guys are smart guys. Any executive worth his salt saw the coming devastation and those that didn’t should be fired and banned from the industry. Those that did and continued because of personal avarice should be jailed.
And if things weren’t bad enough, President Obama proposed a sharp increase in the taxes paid by the nation’s largest financial institutions designed to raise $90 billion over the next decade while constraining the industry’s ability to take large risks and reap outsize rewards.
The problem with that, as I see it is that the banks are being pushed by the administration to increase their capitalization (which is why the banks kept the TARP money and didn’t lend it out) and to be more risk averse in their lending practices, while at the same time, they are being taken to task for not lending enough. For some reason the administration does not recognize the “catch 22″ in this.
And now, Obama has reached agreement with the unions to exempt them from the surtax on Cadillac health plans until 2018, thereby creating a privileged class of workers. Doesn’t the government have a responsibility to treat all classes fairly?
Even some democrats are beginning to doubt whether this health care bill will be constitutional. However, while it is in the courts, it is a good bet that the taxation provisions will go into effect, separating us all from money for health care that we will never see because the bill provides that the extra premiums that we pay for the first four years don’t go towards the health care bill; it is a giant slush fund for the administration.
A new Gallup poll has Obama dropping drastically among the independents that helped put him in office. He is down around 36% in his handling of the economy and the health care bill. Is this a good news issue, or what?
Now serial tax cheat, Charlie Rangel, is wading into the bad news pronouncements regarding the health care bill. This reinforces my belief that the dems are trying to lull us into a false sense of security.
And by the way, He has been caught twice over the past two years on cheating on up to a million dollars of his income. What happened to the ethics inquiry? I reported about 6 months ago that he made several large cash donations to several democratic house members which, ironically, included democratic members of the ethics committee that was investigating him. Only one of the committee members
returned the contribution and the others said they saw nothing wrong in accepting cash from the guy they were investigating.
While we are distracted by the devastation in Haiti, Obama and company are working hard behind closed doors to get an agreement on the health care bill. They do their best work when no one is looking.
Pelosi announces that they have dropped the millionaire’s surtax from their health care bill.
George Soros must have complained.
Speaking of that, Obama met two days ago with unions on the tax on Cadillac health plans which the unions vehemently oppose. Have you heard a word on what has come out of those talks? It’s been two days now.
Maybe it’s none of our business.
After being told to “stuff it” by the U.S. State Dept. responding to North Korea’s suggestion that the U.S. and North Korea sign a peace treaty officially ending the Korean war (Only an armistice was signed in 1953), North Korea has now announced that they will allow more American Tourists into the country this year.
Yeah, right. That’s where I want to spend my vacation. I think I will stick with Baghdad. Word has it that all of the Mobil ratings of hotels over there have a minus sign in front of the stars.
And if things weren’t bad enough, a New Jersey mother is arrested for cursing at a middle school principal.
Hey, the ACLU should be all over this one. I mean, we’re talking freedom of speech here!
And if things weren’t bad enough, now we find that IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman does not file his own taxes, in part because he believes the tax code is complex.
During an interview on C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” program that aired on Sunday, Shulman said he uses a tax preparer for his own returns.
That’s probably why Charlie Rangel doesn’t pay a significant share of his taxes every year, it’s too complicated. Never mind that he chairs the committee that writes the tax code.
And Vice President Joe (Doofus) Biden, always the good ol’ boy, has apparently become alarmed with the lack of transparency in the Administration and is meeting today with several administration officials including some transparency czar. The meeting is off limits to the press! What can you add to that?
BREAKING HEALTH NEWS:
ABC NEWS: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration slammed Tylenol manufacturer McNeil Healthcare LLC during a media briefing this morning for what it called a slow response to problems at a facility in Puerto Rico that led to consumers becoming sickened by tainted pills.
“McNeil should have acted faster,” said Deborah Autor, director of the FDA’s Office of Compliance, of the arm of Johnson & Johnson that manufactures Tylenol products…
A recall of Tylenol products that began last month with the popular Tylenol arthritis caplet expanded this morning to include more than two dozen other over-the-counter products manufactured by McNeil.
McNeill initiated a voluntary recall of Tylenol Arthritis Relief Caplets at the end of December after consumer complaints of stomach problems. The problems were linked to the presence of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA)…
Now it appears that the problem extended into other Tylenol products as well, according to the FDA.
Tylenol Extra Strength, Rolaids and a number of children’s medicines are now included in the recall, which affects 27 products in various packaging quantities.
Thought you should know about this. I just heard about it this morning so apparently the recall hasn’t been widely advertised. I am not a Tylenol user because it is so hard on the liver but many of you may be.
4th Grade class comes up with a creative new excuse:
THE HILL: A big reason why the government is inefficient and ineffective is because Washington has outdated technology, with federal workers having better computers at home than in the office.
This startling admission came Thursday from Peter Orszag, who manages the federal bureaucracy for President Barack Obama.
The public is getting a bad return on its tax dollars because government workers are operating with outdated technologies, Orszag said in a statement that kicked off a summit between Obama and dozens of corporate CEOs.
“Twenty years ago, people who came to work in the federal government had better technology at work than at home,” said Orszag, director of the Office of Management and Budget. “Now that’s no longer the case.
“The American people deserve better service from their government, and better return for their tax dollars.”
In my opinion, the American people are getting serviced way to well by the federal government. You gotta give ‘em credit, tho. Now that they can’t blame Bush anymore, who would have thought that the 4th grade class would blame computers for their ineptness.?
Libs rough up reporter at fundraiser for asking hard questions:
BOSTON HERALD: Weekly Standard reporter says he was roughed up last night outside a Washington, D.C. fund-raiser for Attorney General Martha Coakley by someone he believes is associated with her U.S. Senate campaign.
According to McCormack’s account, Coakley took two questions from reporters after the event, but declined to respond to his question.
“TWS: Attorney General Coakley, you said last night that there are no terrorists in Afghanistan–that they’re all in Yemen and Pakistan. Do you stand by that remark?
COAKLEY: I’m sorry, did someone else have a question? Then answered another reporter’s question.
McCormack wrote after Coakley finished her answer he followed her and asked her why health care industry lobbyists were supporting her at the fundraiser. He said she did not reply.
As he continued to walk down the street, he said a man who appeared to be associated with Coakley’s campaign pushed him into a freestanding metal rail.
“I ended up on the sidewalk. I was fine. He helped me up from the ground, but kept pushing up against me, blocking my path toward Coakley down the street,” he wrote.
McCormack wrote he eventually caught up to Coakley, who declined to answer his question.
Peace and love, my fanny!
Coakley said that she was not privy to the details of the dustup because she didn’t see what happened. If there is one thing you can count on in this world, it is that libs will lie. Here is a picture of her that shows her standing over the downed reporter looking at him.
Coakley is now blaming GOP “stalkers” for the problem. Funny. I never considered members of the legitimate press as stalkers.
Study: Cellphone use fights Alzheimer’s:
TAMPA, Fla. (UPI) — U.S. researchers say they’re surprised to discover radiation from cell phones may protect against and even reverse Alzheimer’s disease. The researchers at the Florida Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, led by University of South Florida neuroscientist Gary Arendash, said exposing old Alzheimer’s mice to electromagnetic waves from cell phones erased brain buildups of a harmful
protein known as beta amyloid and eliminated memory problems typical of Alzheimer’s. The radiation also prevented beta amyloid buildup in younger Alzheimer’s mice, the researchers said in a study funded in part by the National Institute on Aging and published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease. In fact, exposing normal mice to cell phone radiation for two hours a day over seven to nine months actually improved their cognitive abilities compared with so-called control mice tested in a parallel experiment for comparison, Arendash and colleagues said. The highly controlled study let researchers isolate the effects of cell phone exposure on memory from other lifestyle factors such as diet and exercise, the researchers said. It involved 96 mice, most of which were genetically altered to develop beta amyloid plaques and memory problems mimicking Alzheimer’s disease as they aged. “It surprised us to find that cell phone exposure, begun in early adulthood, protects the memory of mice otherwise destined to develop Alzheimer’s symptoms,” Arendash said. “It was even more astonishing that the electromagnetic waves generated by cell phones actually reversed memory impairment in old Alzheimer’s mice.”
Of course, the bad news is that the radiation might give you brain cancer.
The whole scoop on what is happening in Massachusetts:
BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts’s top election official says it could take weeks to certify the results of the upcoming U.S. Senate special election. That delay could let President Barack Obama preserve a key 60th vote for his health care overhaul even if the Republican who has vowed to kill it wins Democrat Edward M. Kennedy’s former seat.
Secretary of State William F. Galvin, citing state law, says city and town clerks must wait at least 10 days for absentee ballots to arrive before they certify the results of the Jan. 19 election. They then have five more days to file the returns with his office.
Galvin bypassed the provision in 2007 so his fellow Democrats could gain a House vote they needed to override a veto of then-Republican President George W. Bush, but the secretary says U.S. Senate rules would preclude a similar rush today.
The potential delay has become a rallying point for the GOP, which argues Democrats have been twisting the rules to pass the health care bill despite public opposition. It’s also prompted criticism from government watchdogs…
Massachusetts Democrats already changed state law last fall so the governor could appoint a fellow Democrat to fill the seat after Kennedy died in August.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, the 4th grade class is in a throttle to the firewall lather to get the health care done before the Massachusetts vote can be certified because they are terrified that they can’t hold the state. That is like Putin not being able to hold Russia!
Update:
“That is the stupidest thing I’ve been asked in a long time. That is insane, the suggestion could only come from a demented right wing source,” erupted Representative Barney Frank (D - MA), when asked by The Washington Times about what he thought of assertions that Massachusetts Democrats would stall the certification process should Mr. Brown win. “There isn’t the slightest possibility of it happening—a way of doing it. That is conspiracy theory at its most contemptible.”
The Boston Herald reported that, according to a source, Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin’s office wants to certify the race on Feb. 20.
Well, Elmer Fudge’s protestations to the contrary notwithstanding, as the Secretary of State had already preemptively refuted his argument by giving a certification date that is twice the maximum time limit required by law. Then, of course, the dems may arrange for the swearing in to be delayed, also.
I can’t believe that there is a republican running a too close to call race in Massachusetts, in the first place. Maybe the libs are beginning to wake up too. Nah.
Trouble in paradise:
NEW YORK DAILY POST: Conan O’Brien broke down in tears yesterday while reading to his writing staff his 553-word statement that he no longer wants to host the “The Tonight Show” if it’s moved to midnight, an insider said.
With Conan out of the picture, Jay Leno will take back “The Tonight Show” by March 1, if not sooner, sources said.
But he was his sardonic self at the show’s LA taping last night, introducing himself as “soon to be available for children’s birthday parties,” and saying how it was “always my dream to host ‘The Tonight Show’ for seven months.”
Well, how would you feel if you hosted a show called “Tonight” that wasn’t broadcast until ” Tomorrow”?
Many people appear to be angry with Leno, but frankly, he didn’t have a thing to do with this. In fact, the head of NBC forced Leno to agree to leave the Tonight show in 5 years in order for NBC to save Conan O’Brien from going to Fox.
Interestingly enough, the local Fox affiliate ran a poll the other morning, asking how many viewers would like to see O’Brien show up late night on its station. 65% said no, 35% said yes, which may say more about Fox’s current demographic than it does about O’Brien and may be why Fox wants him.
Now NBC has given O’Brien an ultimatum telling him that they could keep him off the air for 3 more years. O’Brien quipped that being on NBC was the same thing.
Obama requests a record $708 Billion for war for next year:
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama will ask Congress for an additional $33 billion to fight unpopular wars in Afghanistan and Iraq on top of a record $708 billion
for the Defense Department next year, The Associated Press has learned - a request that could be an especially hard sell to some of the administration’s Democratic allies.
The extra $33 billion in 2010 would mostly go toward the expansion of the war in Afghanistan. Obama ordered an extra 30,000 troops for that war as part of an overhaul of the war strategy late last year.
Military officials have suggested that the 2011 request would top $700 billion for the first time, but the precise figure has not been made public.
I’m thinking the guy has tasted blood and is liking it. Of course, a portion of that money could also be diverted for the start up of his national police force, something near and dear to his heart.
Sheep has human faced lamb in Turkey:
PRAVDA: A sheep gave birth to a dead lamb with a human-like face. The calf was born in a village not far from the city of Izmir, Turkey.
Erhan Elibol, a vet, performed Cesarean section on the animal to take the calf out, but was horrified to see that the features of the calf’s snout bore a striking resemblance to a human face.
“I’ve seen mutations with cows and sheep before. I’ve seen a one-eyed calf, a two-headed calf, a five-legged calf. But when I saw this youngster I could not believe my eyes. His mother could not deliver him so I had to help the animal,” the 29-year-old veterina
The lamb’s head had human features on – the eyes, the nose and the mouth – only the ears were those of a sheep.
Veterinaries said that the rare mutation most likely occurred as a result of improper mutation since the fodder for the lamb’s mother was abundant with vitamin A.
Apparently, the muslims covering up their women isn’t solving their problem.
Stay alert folks,
These government guys aren’t done with us

Definition for new readers: Yellow rat democrats, as opposed to Blue Dog Democrats, or just Democrats, are so named because they behave like yellow rats; they are sneaky, they have no rules that they live by except to get what they want by any means necessary and they run for cover when someone shines a light on them. Yellow Rat Democrats draw primarily from the so-called “progressive” democrats.
If you have watched the secrecy, lies and bribes that the democratic and house leaders have used to push the health care bill through, you understand what a yellow rat is.
