Quote of the Day:“When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I’m sayin’?” Danny Glover, Hollywood actor and climate twit referring to Haiti’s earthquake
You may hear about Pat Robertson’s comment but I bet you won’t hear this bandied about in the media. They protect their own idiots. Observations:Today is Blue Monday; officially the most miserable day of the year. Everyday since last January 20th has been “Blue Monday”.
Have you noticed that Obama hasn’t held a press conference since July?He has given dozens of speeches and answered a few questions when with foreign leaders, but overall, the press has been cut out of directly questioning the president for the past 6 months. This is all about controlling the press and using other channels to get information out without putting the president into a position where he might be asked embarrassing questions.
Take my word for it folks. The new strategy is to follow the successful one that got him elected. Control all information and how it is disseminated; And he has done a very good job of letting out only the information that he wants us to have and none of it he doesn’t want us to have.
More trouble in Wonderland. Nineteen states have now notified the 4th grade class that they want the same deal on Medicaid as the “Mad Hatter” of the senate cut with Nebraska; and if they don’t get it, they will sue.
Sometime ago I did a little math that indicated that in order to keep the health care bill within rational bounds, the 4th grade class planned to push an estimated $1.7 TRILLION in additional Medicaid costs onto the states. As I pointed out, that would mean that the cost to taxpayers would be about $3.4 TRILLION over a 10-year period (without inflation).
Haiti is on everyone’s mind as the 4th grade class works into the wee hours to perfect their witch’s brew of economic poisoning for America.
I did note on a film clip that big guys were beating hell out of little guys and taking their survivor supplies. I think the dems call that “Liberal Natural Selection”. The U.N. also ordered out a 65 member Belgian Medical team from a hospital because of serious security concerns, leaving the seriously injured patients to fend for themselves overnight.
And if things weren’t bad enough already, the leading House Democrat on military policy, Rep. Ike Skelton, said Friday that he opposes repealing the law that bans openly gay people from serving in the military. A leader in crafting the “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy 17 years ago, under Bill Clinton, he says he is not personally for changing the bill. Changing the bill in the middle of two wars could cause some serious problems, he believes. Word has it that Obama is now eying D.C. for the Gitmo trials rather than New York City.
Not sure why the change except New Yorkers might have taken it as a personal slap in the face; or maybe he just wants it close so he can protect and manage the fellow muslims. I wouldn’t worry too much about this happening. As soon as someone in the 4th grade class realizes that the trial may draw the terrorists to D.C., it’s a good bet that they will change the venue again.
European governments reacted coolly on Friday to Washington’s call for others to follow its example and impose a levy on banks.
Apparently, Europe doesn’t much care for Obama’s brand of Marxism. Especially when it will be counter-productive in the economy and hit the citizens even harder, as the banks will just pass on the higher cost to us through increased fees.
And if things weren’t bad enough already, now the global warming freeze may have damaged up to 30% of Florida’s Crops! Strawberry growers reportedly pumped so much water over their plants to encase them in ice to protect them from freezing that sink holes have been appearing.
And if things weren’t bad enough in Venezuela already, Chavez has fired the head of his energy department, who, in a desperate effort to keep a complete crash of the power grid from being the only monument to Chavez’s political and managerial skills, had instituted four hour rolling blackouts across the country. And if things weren’t bad enough in China already, A rising number of Chinese provinces are preparing to introduce power rationing as electricity supplies lag behind demand amid harsh winter weather. The government is urging coal and gas suppliers to increase shipments. Reportedly, coal stocks at power plants that produce 80% of China’s power are at a seventeen month low.
Let’s see. Freeze to death-Burn coal. What a conundrum! GLOBAL WARMING, INDEED
And if that isn’t enough to convince you that we are experiencing global warming, late last week, 26 patients in a psychiatric hospital in Havana froze to death overnight in Cuba where low temps hit 38 degrees.
The stock market took its largest drop so far this year, Friday. J.P. Morgan–Chase’s stock dropped, even with the announcement that they has recorded a 4 – fold increase in earnings for the fourth quarter last year of $300 + billion. The dampening effect apparently came from Chase’s announcement that they may not see a break in increasing loan losses due to continuing foreclosures this year. Wall Street’s top lobbying group has now hired a top supreme court litigator to study the possibility of mounting a constitutional challenge to Obama’s new bank tax.
So, it’s not bad enough that they are wasting literally generations worth of tax dollars, but now they are going to end up wasting more defending constitutional challenges. Folks. If we don’t stop these guys now, it could very well be your kids that pick you up and dump you off at my Soylent Green factory for your inaction on these issues!
Today is the 20th anniversary of the arrest of the former mayor of the Peoples Republic of D.C., Marion Berry for possession of nose candy. He was later convicted of a misdemeanor.
However, the poor guy that went through the wrong security door by mistake at JFK, leading to an evacuation of one terminal, is now facing several felony charges that could give him up to 7 years in prison.
And if things weren’t bad enough in America, already:Jan. 15 (Bloomberg) — Even if Democrats lose the special election to pick a new Massachusetts senator Tuesday, Congress may still pass health-care overhaul through a process called reconciliation, a top House Democrat said. That procedure requires 51 votes rather than the 60 needed to prevent Republicans from blocking votes on President Barack Obama’s top legislative priorities. That supermajority is at risk as the Massachusetts race has tightened.
These dipsticks are really spooked about the Massachusetts’s race. If the dems lose in Massachusetts now, it will be like discovering that your mother only gave you conditional love all of these years. Using the so-called “nuclear option” in an improper setting could really backfire on the dems. Keep this in mind when you write your congersfolk. Make using the nuclear option a really ugly and dangerous thing for the dems.
Headline of the Day:Eye test that spots Alzheimer’s 20 years before symptoms: Middle aged could be screened at routine opticians visit London Mail
I’m not sure I want to know. Aww Geez article of the Day:
TELEGRAPH U.K. : The floor of a Weight Watchers clinic in Sweden collapsed beneath a group of 20 members of the weight loss programme who were gathered for a meeting… Luckily, all of the dieters escaped uninjured and managed to move the scales to the corridor, which was not damaged in the accident, and were able to complete their weekly weigh in. The cause of the floor’s collapse remains under investigation.
Well, duuuhh!
It takes a worried man to sing a worried song:
BOSTON (AP) - His health care bill at stake, President Barack Obama plans a trip to Massachusetts to campaign for endangered Senate Democratic candidate Martha Coakley amid release of a poll showing an edge for the Republican Party in the race to fill a Senate seat Democrats have held for over a half-century.
The dems are also staging a Hurricane Katrina style political aid program to rush assets into the state to bolster Coakley.
Dems look at bypassing Senate health care vote:
BOSTON (AP) - A panicky White House and Democratic allies scrambled Sunday for a plan to salvage their hard-fought health care package in case a Republican wins Tuesday’s Senate race in Massachusetts, which would enable the GOP to block further Senate action. The likeliest scenario would require persuading House Democrats to accept a bill the Senate passed last month, despite their objections to several parts.
They are so desperate for anything that might be a facsimile of a victory, regardless how bad it is or how useless, is just stunning. Their disregard for the welfare of the American people is truly breathtaking.
What Washington Post Story Did Not Say about Its Own Poll: Most Americans Say They Want a Smaller Government
Monday, January 18, 2010
CNS News: By Terence P. Jeffrey, Editor-in-Chief [Correction: Although the Washington Post’s Sunday story; that focused primarily on a new Washington Post-ABC News poll—“Poll Shows Growing Disappointment, Polarization Over Obama’s Performance” by Jon Cohen and Jennifer Agiesta—made no mention of the fact that the poll found that 58 percent of Americans say they favor a smaller government that provides fewer services, another story in Sunday’s Post—“One Year Later Assessing Obama; Testing the Promise of Pragmatism” by Dan Balz–did mention that finding.
Any question still lingering in your mind that the left wing media has any compunction about lying in order to promote their agenda?
strong>For all those people that told me there is no problem with Facebook:
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A Georgia mother and her two daughters logged onto Facebook from mobile phones last weekend and wound up in a startling place: strangers’ accounts with full access to troves of private information. The glitch—the result of a routing problem at the family’s wireless carrier, AT&T—revealed a little known security flaw with far reaching implications for everyone on the Internet, not just Facebook users. In each case, the Internet lost track of who was who, putting the women into the wrong accounts. It doesn’t appear the users could have done anything to stop it. The problem adds a dimension to researchers’ warnings that there are many ways online information—from mundane data to dark secrets—can go awry. Just a word of warning.
Another example of a sparkling management plan:CARACAS (Dow Jones)–President Obama Hugo Chavez ordered Sunday the seizure of a French-owned retail chain on accusations that it raised prices after Venezuela devalued the currency by half. “Until when are we going to allow this to happen?” Chavez asked during his Sunday television program in reference to the alleged price hike by Almacenes Exito SA (EXITO.BO), headquartered in Colombia and controlled by French retailer Casino … Obama Chavez had to move fast, before the chain just closed all of its stores. If they were buying goods outside of the country and with devalued Bolivars, which would require twice as many, and not being able to raise retail prices the result would put them onto a very steep and short slide into bankruptcy.
Sorry about the strikeouts. I tend to get the two of them mixed up.
What Obama’s P.R. strategy hopes to avoid:
WASHINGTON TIMES: How can a Massachusetts Senate candidate possibly offend 39 percent of voters in her state? If it’s Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley, she would tell devout Catholics not to bother working in an emergency room. In the transcript below, Ms. Coakley chokes on a question from radio host Ken Pittman referring to the conscience clause. Under the conscience clause, workers in health-care environments ranging from doctors to maintenance men can refuse to offer services, information, or advice to patients on issues like contraception, blood transfusions, etc..if the workers are morally against it. Here is how Ms. Coakley handled the matter. Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches that any form of birth control is a sin. ah you don’t want to do that. Martha Coakley: No we have a separation of church and state Ken, let’s be clear. Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom. Martha Coakley: (……uh, eh…um..) The law says that people are allowed to have that. You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.
Apparently the A.G. considers religious freedom in the emergency room inconvenient. The latest poll shows Coakley at least 5 points behind Republican Challenger Scott Brown, who has said that he will kill health care if elected. The dems are already beginning to throw Coakley under the bus to protect Obama and have started comparing her to Creigh Deeds, the incumbent democratic governor of Virginia that lost last year, despite Obama’s efforts.
And if things weren’t bad enough, Senator Charles “Chucky” Shumer, (D-NY) is now calling Scott Brown a “Far Right Tea Bagger”! Aww geez Chucky, did you have to go and play the “Teabagger” card already? You know something? D’Amato was right when he called you a “putz”. It should be noted that by all accounts, Scott Brown is a moderate Republican.
FCC looks at ways to assert authority over Web access:
WASHINGTON POST: The Federal Communications Commission is considering aggressive moves to stake out its authority to oversee consumer access to the Internet, as a recent court hearing and industry opposition have cast doubt on its power over Web service providers. The FCC, which regulates public access to telephone and television services, has been working to claim the same role for the Internet. The stakes are high, as the Obama administration pushes an agenda of open broadband access for all and big corporations work to protect their enormous investments in a new and powerful medium. The issue may have reached a turning point last week when a federal appeals court questioned the limits of the FCC’s authority in a 2008 case involving Comcast. The agency had ordered the Internet and cable giant to stop blocking subscribers’ access to the online file-sharing service BitTorrent. But in an oral hearing last Friday, three judges grilled an FCC lawyer over whether the agency had acted outside the scope of its authority. The appeals court is still hearing the case, but analysts predict that the FCC will lose and that the ruling could throw all of its efforts to oversee Internet access into question. A loss could undermine the legality of FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski’s push for policies that would prohibit service providers from restricting customers’ access to legal Web content — the concept known as net neutrality — and throw into doubt the agency’s ability to oversee pricing and competition among Internet service providers. (It probably wouldn’t prohibit the administration from barring my newsletter though) The agency said it will continue to argue that it had the authority to rule against Comcast, but it is making plans to deal with a loss. ”If the court removes the legal basis for the current approach to broadband, the commission may be compelled to undertake a major reassessment of its policy framework . . . or Congress will have to act,” said Colin Crowell, senior adviser to Genachowski. (So they will just tell congress to write a bill authorizing them to do whatever they want.) Specifically, that could mean the agency will reverse policies from the past decade that put cable and DSL Internet services in a special category over which the agency has only “ancillary jurisdiction.” Those policies were intended to deregulate Internet services in order to promote competition and innovation in the young industry as it developed. Consumer groups argue that they instead reduced competition and drove prices higher. Analysts said the FCC may look to put broadband services back into a category alongside phone services that is clearly under the authority of the government. At issue, some FCC officials say, is the future of how Americans will communicate and receive information. One in five U.S. homes has swapped landline telephone service for wireless. The agency also could ask Congress to grant it explicit authority over Internet service providers. But that approach would also face significant barriers, analysts said.
It sure sounds good when the Washington Post writes about it… Stay alertGlenn
