MR. PRESIDENT: PUT THE STARS BACK IN OUR FLAG © 2009-2010

A little audio to hear Elena Kagan: http://www.breitbart.tv/kagans-own-words-its-fine-if-the-law-bans-books-because-government-wont-really-enforce-it/ (copy and paste to your browser)
Quote(s) of the Day:
“…but it gives police far reaching power to harass unlawful immigrants with the goal of driving them out of the U.S. –a strategy the law’s framers call ‘attrition through enforcement’.”
Tamar Jacoby, President of Immigration Works U.S.A. in a column regarding Arizona’s SB 1070 for the Los Angeles Times.
Well, yeah. That is why we wrote the bill; you twit!
Someone needs to write a new national anthem for this country called “Where has all the logic gone.”
“We could certainly slow the aging process down if it had to work its way through Congress.”
- Will Rogers, (1879-1935) World record holding roper, Author, Star of Stage and Screen and American Humorist
Observation of the Day:
I watched a John Ford documentary on Korea the other night. Towards the end of the film, they showed the acres and acres of graves of our fallen soldiers.
It struck me that all of those boys and the ones in Viet Nam threw their lives away fighting communism for absolutely nothing. The commies have taken over Washington D.C. through our educational system.
And they have been aided and abetted by nearly every damn one of us, and I include myself, through our apathy and inattention and self-absorption. There is no doubt that the mental midgets of
this country helped them achieve their nefarious goal, but the rest of us were right in there ignoring them, or worse yet, too damn timid or self involved to take them on when they could have been stopped.
Even if we are able to throw the leftists out of congress this fall and the leftists out of the White House in 2012, the fight won’t be over until we take our education system back. As Winston Churchill observed as Britain quashed the Germans in the Battle of Britain: “This is not the beginning of the end; it is the end of the beginning”.
No folks, I am afraid unless we move out of our comfortable little world, at least for the foreseeable future, we are going to get what we deserve for our laziness and our self centeredness; a country that will have to build a wall to keep us from fleeing to Canada.
OBSERVATIONS:
Obama is continuing to beat the drum of spending our way out of financial trouble at the G-8 conference in Canada. Most of the other countries are following the opposite strategy of belt tightening and deficit reduction and are stiffing Obama in his effort to sell these countries his flawed strategies.
Do you suppose they have read a few pages further in Keynesian theory than Obama has?
He may have laid the book down too soon, or perhaps he is pursuing the Cloward-Piven strategy for bringing the U.S. down.
And it looks like Obama will get his Financial Regulation Bill through congress. Interestingly, I agree with many of the provisions in the bill; especially those that regulate the mortgage industry and prohibiting lenders from paying mortgage brokers based on the ‘yield spread premium’ which incentivized mortgage brokers to push borrowers into riskier and more expensive loans.
As I predicted a few weeks ago, democrat negotiators, with republican help, partially gutted Blanche Lincoln’s prohibition for banks to speculate in derivatives.
However, as with all things, Obama, the devil is in the details. The bill will give Obama control of a huge portion of the economy as he can put lenders in a ‘death grip’ to control them and make them do what he wants.
Some experts are now saying that between health care and the financial regulation bill, Obama will have control of up to 70% of the entire economy. He is moving faster than Hugo Chavez in Venezuela is, as far as taking over the country is concerned.
UPDATE: See below.
Senator Robert Byrd, (D-WV) and former KKK member, is dead at 92 years of age. The good senator was responsible for paving over all but about 3 square miles of West Virginia with roads to nowhere, as long time chairman of the Highway Appropriations committee.
His death now puts the passing of Obama’s financial regulation bill a little more questionable because the vote is scheduled this week and it is doubtful that they can appoint a replacement in time.
I have faith in the radicals, though. They never let laws stand in their way.
As noted above, my concern has always been in the details of the bill that never come to light until it is too late. It gives bureaucrats the ability to make up rules as they go.
As Ayn Rand said in one of her books, the progressives regulate an industry to the point that it gets into trouble and then, because of the tight regulation, can’t get itself out of trouble. The government then can step in and take it over as the last resort.
Police in Amsterdam, the Netherlands are having to resort to new methods to try to contain a spreading harassment of Jews by muslims. Police are dressing as Jews, wearing a yarmulke as a decoy to catch people who have committed a wide variety of crimes and intimidation against Jews.
I am coming to the conclusion that muslims are not the nice people that Obama says they are.
Budget deficits are creating more of a need to conserve and cut spending in Arizona as well as other states. The prospect of cutting programs is beginning to raise its ugly head as the easy spending cuts have been made. I would hope that government uses some discretion and human compassion when cutting these programs.
It may not be that easy. Combined state deficits are projected to hit $112 Billion by next June.
We are now going to pay the price for gross fiscal irresponsibility at all levels of government.
That said, I have observed over the years, as I am sure many of you have, the ongoing disintegration of the family in this country. The close- knit families of the Latinos is one of the things that I admire about their culture.
It occurs to me that as the government programs have expanded to meet more and more human needs, many caused by the irresponsibility of those in need, and the government handouts replaced the families in taking care of these people.
The family, which might have had a mitigating influence on the irresponsible behavior of those family members, has been taken out of the equation by the government programs. It was always in the family’s best interests to get that member to become a self- supporting and responsible citizen as soon as possible to lighten the burden on the family. No more. People could now afford to move away from their families so they ‘didn’t have to hear it’ and could continue their irresponsible life styles at the expense of the public. Family ties have continued to fray and weaken.
If there is a silver lining in any of this, it may be that families will have to start supporting each other again and the family unit may come back somewhat.
Of course, there will be much gnashing of teeth and howling as these people lose their government support. However, I have observed that many of these people have other options. In fact, when doing charity work years ago, I was stunned that so many of the people on welfare would tell me that they could work if they wanted to; they just preferred not to.
Of greater concern to me is that many out there do not have alternatives, especially the aged and infirm and I would hope that some accommodation could be made for those without options.
Actually, the family is about to get another boost as, according to the current regime, it will take a lot more people to keep one household going. They are telling us that the jobs that have been lost will not come back (at least under their regime).
And SB 1070 is already starting to have an effect in Arizona, even though it doesn’t take effect until the end of July. The left wing rag they call a newspaper here is beginning to run front-page tear jerking stories of illegals leaving the state for other states, many on the east coast.
Their resident open borders columnist is firing up the rhetoric again and quoting a much criticized and partially discredited study done by a University of Arizona professor in 2003.
To you out of state readers, you have my apologies. However, you can do the same thing that Arizona has done, if you can stand the heat from the leftists and the politicians pushing for a permanent subgroup majority.
If I were governor of Arizona, I would load all of the illegals on buses and drop them off in front of the welfare offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Another reason political parties won’t have anything to do with me.
And if things weren’t bad enough in paradise, the massage therapist reported that she called Al Gore a ‘crazed sex poodle’ when he assaulted her. As one wag noted, “it turns out that it wasn’t the climate that Gore was feeling warming, but his own pants”.
And if things still weren’t bad enough, Obama will be handed the power to shut down the Internet on a whim for at least four months without Congressional oversight if the Senate votes for the infamous Internet ‘kill switch’ bill, which was approved by a key Senate committee yesterday and now moves to the floor.
Fears that the legislation is aimed at bringing the Internet under the regulatory power of the U.S. government in an offensive against free speech were heightened on Sunday, when Lieberman revealed that the plan was to mimic China’s policies of policing the web with censorship and coercion.
Some are saying that fears surrounding cybersecurity have been hyped to mask the real agenda behind the bill, which is to strangle the runaway growth of alternative and independent media outlets which are exposing government atrocities, cover-ups and cronyism like never before.
Indeed, China uses similar rhetoric about the need to maintain “security” and combating cyber warfare by regulating the web, when in reality their entire program is focused around silencing anyone who criticizes the state.
What? Is Lieberman the new Manchurian Candidate?
This is scary on a lot of levels. Remember, a mere 25 years ago, it was illegal to own a mimeograph or any kind of duplicating machine in East Germany. The government had a complete monopoly on the distribution of all information. That is what we are talking about giving Obama.
Well, at least you won’t have this rag cluttering up your email box.
Obama is making scary predictions about the belt tightening that will be necessary to curb the deficits.
I find that interesting considering he hit the G-8 banging the drum for countries to follow us in the effort to deficit spend our way out of the recession. Most of the other countries, including Germany, one of the few financially strong countries, stiffed him on that item.
I find this speech of his quite perplexing since about $3,000,000,000,000.00 of the debt is, or will be, of his making in the next few years.
As I have noted before, Obama is pursuing the Cloward/Piven strategy to bankrupt this country, so I suspect that any talk of deficit reduction will be primarily lip service on the issue. I can’t imagine why he would continue to push such an obviously flawed strategy, against all advice, unless that was his goal.
He is correct in one aspect, though; he didn’t do this all by himself– he had plenty of help from the republicans the past few years.
As we continue to tip toe through Obama’s ‘summer of recovery’, consumer confidence plunged in June and stocks hit their lowest levels this year; underlined by a 17% plunge in Citigroup’s stock which caused a 5-minute shutdown in trading.
And this just in: Only 13,000 new jobs were added in this country in June!
NEWS:
Krugman Sees U.S. in ‘Third Great Depression’:
MONEY NEWS: The U.S. economy is in the “early stages” of a depression, one which will be much more severe than the Great Depression, Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman warns (in the New York Times.
“Around the world … governments are obsessing about inflation when the real threat is deflation, preaching the need for belt-tightening when the real problem is inadequate spending,” writes Krugman. “Unlike governments of the past, which tried to balance budgets in the face of a plunging economy, today’s governments allowed deficits to rise. And better policies helped the world avoid complete collapse: the recession brought on by the financial crisis arguably ended last summer.” But, Krugman notes, future historians will say that this wasn’t the end of the third depression. “After all, unemployment — especially long-term unemployment — remains at levels that would have been considered catastrophic not long ago, and shows no sign of coming down,” writes Krugman. (Anyone know what he is talking about in the first two paragraphs in italics? He is apparently supporting Obama’s position that we need to spend our way out of this recession while seeming to blame that strategy in the second paragraph.) Other elite opinion-makers seem to concur with this tragic hypothesis. The Washington Post is reporting that this past weekend’s G-20 Summit was a “prelude to a depression.”
Ever since Obama got the Nobel prize, it has ceased to mean much to me…
I am not an economist and have to fall back on common sense to compensate for a ‘lack of larnin’ in this field. Sometimes, the critical facts are hidden and other times the problem is so complicated that common sense doesn’t help. THERE; YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Note that both the papers wailing about this are left wing rags and part of the government-controlled media. I don’t have a lot of faith in these papers.
That is because I think that there is a real possibility that this group of miscreants are providing cover for Obama’s continued actions to bankrupt this country by making it appear that the depression is result of the world problem. There is no question that the world’s financial problems are aggravating our situation, but they all seem to be taking the opposite financial tact to correct their situation.
Obama continues to pursue the Keynesian philosophy here to correct the recession, but if memory serves me, John Maynard Keynes, when writing this philosophy, also added the caveat that spending your way out of a recession should be pursued if your debt is under 12% of GDP! Our debt will hit 100% of GDP within the next few years under Obama’s spending plans.
I THINK THAT IT IS TIME TO START HAVING HEART TO HEARTS WITH ALL OF YOUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES, DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICANS, IN REGARD TO THIS SUBJECT.
IGNORE THIS WARNING AT YOUR OWN VERY GREAT PERIL! There will be a lot more people, including possibly you, that will lose jobs and everything else that they own if my suspicions are correct. My predictions regarding the effects of Obama’s burgeoning dictatorship have been pretty much spot-on for the past couple of years. I predicted a double dip recession a year and a half ago.
Get serious, folks. Many of you could be handing over your guns, along with the rest of your freedoms, and kissing Obama’s ring for a food handout and a place to sleep very soon.
Obama promised a fundamental change in this country and he is on track. He said, “Yes We Can” and you aren’t going to like what he can.
Biden tells audience not to expect the lost jobs back under them:
CBS NEWS: Vice President Joe Biden gave a stark assessment of the economy today, telling an audience of supporters, “there’s no possibility to restore 8 million jobs lost in the Great Recession.”
I have been saying for some time that the 4th grade class has been preparing us for high unemployment because they know that with the economy under their control, the jobs won’t come back.
Kagan is scarier than I thought:
WORLD NET DAILY: Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan’s press for considering international law as “the context” for interpreting U.S. law has incited worries her appointment could pave the way for world treaties that threaten both parental rights and homeschooling in the United States.
A statement from the Homeschooling Legal Defense Association points to Kagan’s decision as dean of Harvard Law School to require first-year students to study international law:
“From the start, students should learn to locate what they are learning about public and private law in the United States within the context of a larger universe,” reads a letter from Kagan and Harvard’s Curricular Innovations Committee advocating the requirement. “Specifically, we recommend the development of three foundation courses … each of which represents a door into the global sphere that students will use as context for U.S. law.”
The HSLDA argues Kagan’s actions and words demonstrate a belief that the U.S. Constitution needs to be examined through a “lens” of international opinion.
“HSLDA believes that this philosophy will come in direct conflict with a Supreme Court justice’s role,” the statement reads. “Judges should not look to international law and the decisions of foreign nations in order to interpret the U.S. Constitution and apply it to disputes today.”
Specifically, the HSLDA is concerned Kagan may push the Supreme Court to consider a pair of United Nations treaties – the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women – as relevant to cases in the U.S.
“These are dangerous treaties because they would severely restrict parental rights and homeschooling,” the HSLDA contends. “If the CRC were to be ratified by the Senate, the government would have the ability to override every decision made by parents by asserting the parents were not acting in the best interest of the child. The United States is one of the few countries in the world that have not ratified these treaties.”
This is really scary… This is a move to cement their control of the kids of this country. As I mentioned in Friday’s newsletter, the far left already has the education system and unless we can bring it back from teaching far leftist policies, pretty much anything we do is futile in the long run.
The threat to home schooling is very real. The government cannot have kids being pulled out of school and being taught conservative principals. That wouldn’t be—well…leftist, would it?
Kagan, having been a former dean of the Harvard Law School brings great leftist ideological credentials to the job as Supreme Court Justice and can be relied on to hand down opinions based on ideology rather than law.
After all, the mess that this country’s legal system is in can be traced back to a socialist in the 20’s who was a dean of the Harvard Law School.
That was when they started teaching law students to rely on case law rather than interpreting the law and constitution every time.
The major flaw in this is that every time a case is adjudicated using case law, there is an excellent opportunity to bend case law towards a particular agenda. With enough case law
decisions, one can see how easily the case law can be corrupted and will no longer reflect the law or the constitution.
Disgraced Fannie Mae deep in carbon scheme:
With the Obama administration pushing for cap-and-trade legislation, former Clinton and Obama adviser Franklin Raines has positioned the government-sponsored mortgage giant Fannie Mae to make millions by selling carbon credits from American homes.
Two patents applied for by Raines as one of several “co-inventors” – Nos. 6904336 and 7133750 – create a “method for identifying, quantifying, and aggregating reductions in residential emissions into a tradable commodity.” The patents are identically titled “System and Method for Residential Emissions Trading.”
The idea appears to be for Fannie Mae to create “Collateralized Carbon Obligations,” or CCOs, by utilizing a methodology similar to its system for combining individual home loans into Collateralized Loan Obligations, or CLOs.
The patents give Fannie Mae the methods for identifying and measuring energy savings in homes that can be packaged and sold to carbon polluters as credits on a carbon exchange.
Instead of selling the Collateralized Loan Obligations to institutional investors, including financial institutions and banks, the energy savings in thousands of U.S. homes would be packaged by Fannie Mae and sold as Collateralized Carbon Obligations on a carbon exchange, such as the Chicago Climate Exchange. The buyers would be carbon emitters who emit so much carbon dioxide they are required to buy carbon-offset credits.
WND reported Raines and Fannie Mae have both stated in e-mails that Raines has no ownership of the two carbon emission patents he filed as “inventor” while he was CEO of the government-sponsored mortgage giant. (I have read conflicting reports on this. One report said that Fannie Mae wasn’t mentioned on the second patent.)
The patents authorize Fannie Mae to create either “a system” or “a computer-implemented method” for converting household energy savings into tradable credits.
The patents discuss “replacing older appliances with more energy efficient appliances; upgrading hot water heating systems; upgrading heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; modifying lightening; fuel switching and renovating the entire home.”
The patents also recommend that homeowners participating in the program should consider “installing insulating insulation in attics and exterior walls; installing more efficient windows; and reducing infiltration.”
Once Fannie Mae establishes an energy baseline on a home, the patents describe a methodology in which regulators can measure on-going energy use through the installation of new meters and by regulators visiting homes as part of Fannie Mae-specified field monitoring.
Nowhere in the patents is there any discussion of compensating homeowners for making the energy improvements or for sharing with homeowners any of the revenue Fannie Mae might derive from packaging their energy savings as carbon credits to be sold on a carbon exchange to carbon polluters.
Folks, this is one of the biggest government run scams in the history of the world. Think about it. The government gets us all to save energy by spending money to increase efficiency in our homes and then sells the carbon credits to big companies so they can keep polluting just as they have been all along. The only difference between now and then is that huge sums of money fall into the carbon traders hands.
Here is a business enterprise that makes no product, has no staff with the exception of the traders and assistants, and sells absolutely nothing for huge money!
And of course, the homeowner is left out of this equation. Interestingly enough, the homeowner not only have to pay for the improvements to their homes but will also have to pay for the money paid to the carbon traders by industry, through higher product prices.
It is also my understanding that Obama and his chief advisor, Valerie Jarrett (who Obama first tried to get Blagojevich to appoint to his vacated senate seat) put up seed money for the Chicago Carbon Exchange.
Just as Al Gore has made over a hundred million dollars on the Henny Penny climate gaff, these people stand to become wealthy beyond reason…
And one more thing…Word has it that the cap and trade bill that Obama is pushing has a provision in it that when you try sell your home and it doesn’t meet some government mandated standard of energy efficiency, you will be required to bring it up to that standard before you sell it; at your expense, of course. See how that would increase the carbon credits that they could sell? And what happens if you can’t afford to bring it up to their standard? I guess you can’t sell your house.
I would expect that lenders would be shy about lending on homes that didn’t meet that standard.
AS OUR MUCH BELOVED VICE PRESIDENT RECENTLY UTTERED; “This is a big ******* deal”!
Hamas says asked by US to keep silent on secret talks:
Y-NET NEWS: A senior Hamas figure said Friday that official and unofficial US sources have asked the Islamist group to refrain from making any statements regarding contacts with Washington, this following reports that a senior American official is due to arrive in an Arab country in the coming days to relay a telegram from the Obama Administration.
The Hamas figure told the London-based Al-Quds Al-Arabi newspaper that the Americans fear discussing the talks publicly would “rouse the Jewish lobby and other pressure groups in the US and cause them to pressure the administration to suspend all talks with Hamas.”
The Hamas figure, who is close to Ismail Haniyeh, the prime minister of the government in Gaza, added, “This is a sensitive subject. The Americans don’t want anyone to comment on it because this would catch the attention of pressure groups (in the US) and cause problems.”
He said Hamas’ exiled leadership in Damascus is overseeing the contacts behind closed doors.
I guess Obama has never met a terrorist he didn’t like. Take Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground, for instance…
Iran has enough uranium for 2 bombs:
WASHINGTON (AP) – CIA Director Leon Panetta says Iran probably has enough low-enriched uranium for two nuclear weapons, but that it likely would take two years to build the bombs.
Panetta also says he is doubtful that recent U.N. penalties will put an end to Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
He says the penalties could help to weaken Tehran’s government by creating serious economic problems. But he adds, “Will it deter them from their ambitions with regards to nuclear capability? Probably not.”
Panetta tells ABC’s “This Week” that there is “some debate” as to whether Iran will proceed with the bomb.
Asked about a potential Israeli military strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Panetta said he thinks Israel is giving the U.S. room on the diplomatic and political fronts.
Israel can wait only so long…
Kagan Shifts on Disclosure of Legal Views at Hearings:
NEW YORK TIMES: WASHINGTON — At the opening of questioning in her Supreme Court confirmation hearing on Tuesday, Solicitor General Elena Kagan quickly backpedaled from her past call for nominees to speak more openly and in specific terms about their constitutional views.
Under questioning by the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senator Patrick J. Leahy, Democrat of Vermont, Ms. Kagan said she thought it would be inappropriate for her to talk about how she might rule on pending cases or cases “that might come before the court in the future” — or to answer questions that were “veiled” efforts to get at such issues.
Moreover, she said, she also now believed that “it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to talk about past cases” by essentially grading Supreme Court precedents, because those issues, too, might someday come again before the court.
In a 1995 book review, Ms. Kagan wrote that recent Supreme Court confirmation hearings had taken on “an air of vacuity and farce” because nominees would not engage in a meaningful discussion of legal issues, declining to answer any question that might “have some bearing on a case that might someday come before the Court.” She called on senators and future nominees to engage in a much more open and detailed discussion of legal issues.
See how the progressives reverse themselves on everything when if serves their purposes?
This is why they can’t be trusted!

Definition for new readers:
Yellow rat democrats, as opposed to Blue Dog Democrats, or just Democrats, are so named because they behave like yellow rats; they are sneaky, they have no rules that they live by except to get what they want by any means necessary and they run for cover when someone shines a light on them. Yellow Rat Democrats draw primarily from the so-called “progressive” democrats and marxists.
If you have watched the secrecy, lies and bribes that the democratic senate and house leaders have used to push the health care bill through, you understand what a yellow rat is.
